FLORA Y FAUNA

The vegetation existing in Almedina is manily conditioned by human transformation and weather conditions. The cultivation species are the typical of Castilla-La Mancha, highlighting olives, vines, wheat, barley … The wild species that can be observed vary throughout the municipality. The riparian vegetation: elms, poplars, ash, wild rose, willows, reeds, reeds … Mediterranean vegetation: highlighting the oak and appearing other species such as kermes oak, gall oak, thyme, wild orchids, wild jasmine, hare’s ear, Helianthemum … The vegetation of the Pizorros: where the broom stands out, chupamieles, lechetrezna, lanterns, vibreoras …

In terms of fauna we can observe a large number of bird species, highlighting the red partridge and birds of prey, which are often observed in their flights, (imperial eagle, golden eagle, kestrel, buzzard, hawk, owl, owl real …), birds of small size, (goldfinch, titmouse, blue tit, red-headed warbler, gaudy sparrow, nightingale cetia …), steppe birds (bustards, larks, crested …) and migrating birds (oriole, bee-eater, robin, mosquito net , common nightingale, flycatchers, different species of warblers …). In spring and summer we can observe reptiles and amphibians more easily (ocellated lizard, green lizard, gray lizard, terrapin, common frog …) and a large number of butterfly species (Harlequin butterfly, Icarus, blanquiverdosa, celestial girl, the eldest maid, pandora …). Although more rarely, we can also observe different mammals (fox, rabbit, hare, polecat, water rat …).
