City Hall of Almedina – Heredia’s House

The current Almedina City Hall building is located in what was formerly the Heredia’s House, one of the wealthiest families in Almedina until recently. The main gate, columned, emblazoned and with portico at two heights, is preserved from the old building. In this building was born Fray Muñoz de la Cueva, Bishop of Orense, theologian, qualifier of the Holy Office, royal preacher and redeemer of captives.

At present, the building is the nucleus of public life, and in it we find apart from the Town Hall, the Health Center, the Post Office, the Municipal Library, the headquarters of the Association of Local Development Tierras de Libertad, the headquarters of the Montiel Field Studies Center, etc. All this around a typical courtyard of La Mancha, with columns and two heights.

We can also see in this patio, reproductions of Fernando Yáñez de la Almedina’s paintings, on a smaller scale than those scattered throughout the town.
